Tony Soprano could have played against a Baldwin brother.
The legend of The sopranos grows every day. Over the past year we’ve heard stories from a lot of people who have finally watched the series in quarantine, and we certainly have the anticipation for that Sopranos Movie, The many saints of Newarkwhich will appear in autumn.
There is even one Sopranos Podcast called Speaking sopranos directed by Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa. They recently had Alec Baldwin with them, who was talking about being on the show and playing a hit man who killed Tony.
Baldwin said “I called whoever it was … and said … there’s only one man in this business who should come in, beat up Jimmy, and ride off with Edie, and I’m that man. They said, ‘Sure, great. We’re adding your name to the list of all Irish actors who think they should be there The sopranos. ‘”
Of course, no good casting story ends there. Baldwin also remembers meeting the show’s creator, David Chase, in a men’s room.
Baldwin said, “I put my shirt up to the mechanical dryer and the door opens and… that’s my idea of David Chase. He says, ‘Alec Baldwin? What the hell are you doing drying your shirt in the bathroom at the Four Seasons restaurant? ‘ And I think that’s why I was never cast on your show. ”
Fans know Baldwin was never on the show, and we’re not entirely sure if Tony was beaten up in the end (author’s note: He did), but this is still an amazing story. It shows you that everyone wants to be a part of it when you have a hit.
Are you a fan of the podcast? Do you wish Baldwin had shown up?
