Disney is sharing the making of the very first film focused on Southeast Asia and it’s amazing!

Raya and the Last Dragon, Disney’s first animated film focused on Southeast Asia, is set to hit the big screen in India in March. Now the studio is sharing a glimpse of what it took to bring the film to life. Scroll down to find out more.

Last month, the trailer for Raya and the Last Dragon was released. He showed a glimpse of Raya (voiced by Kelly-Marie Tran) as she rallies her crew of warriors and crooks in their quest to find the last mythical dragon. Now the studio has released a new video that offers a fresh take on the next epic fantasy adventure.

In the video, Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) and Awkwafina (Ocean’s 8), along with the filmmakers, discuss the inspiration behind the film’s story, characters, and martial arts. They also spoke about how it was designed by artists, talents and filmmakers who were all working from home at a time when Hollywood was facing lockdown due to the pandemic.

Producer Osnat Shurer in the video said, “We were hosting, enlightening, hosting story meetings. It was all done at everyone’s house with dogs, cats and babies. Next, showed various cats and babies lounging in front of screens as hard-working Disney workers working on the film.

Don Hall, who is one of the directors of Raya And The Last Dragon, said, “It could only have happened because everyone is passionate about the movies we make and they brought it in. I mean the movie is, I think, one of our nicest movies. Along with Hall, the film was also directed by Carlos López Estrada, Paul Briggs and John Ripa.

Kelly Marie Tran, who was also seen in the video, said, “It’s so exciting to be Southeast Asia’s first Disney Princess. It’s a big problem. Raya is one of the fiercest characters. Watch the video below:

The official Disney movie synopsis says, “Raya and the Last Dragon takes us on an exciting and epic journey into the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together long ago in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the earth, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it is up to a lone warrior, Raya, to find the last legendary dragon to restore the fractured earth and its divided people. However, throughout her journey, she will learn that it will take more than a dragon to save the world – it will also take trust and teamwork.
