American rock band The Offspring talks about everything going on in the United States right now on their 10th album, “Let The Bad Times Roll”.
Frontman Dexter Holland says there has been a lot of “crazy politics” in America, which is why now is the right time to release the album.
“It was just writing these songs that are about what’s going on right now. The time had come for this record. The social upheaval of the past year has been incredible. There’s a lot of crazy politics going on, ”Holland said in an interview with contactmusic.com.
He added, “There have certainly been things going on in the United States that we feel are very America-centric. But we’re also seeing it around the world – in Hong Kong, for example, and Myanmar. “
The group, who had been together for eight years, had their big break with their 1994 album “Smash”.
Recalling those days, Holland said, “Talk about a complete life change. In three months, we had gone from what we were to a full time punk rock band, or rock and roll band. It was a roller coaster, (at that time) we had been in the band for a long time, and that was a plus for us.
