Delhi HC refuses to suspend release of film based on the life of Sushant Singh Rajput: Bollywood News

The Delhi High Court has refused to suspend the release of a film based on the life of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who died in June last year. The film titled Nyay: justice must be released tomorrow.

The petition to suspend the film’s release was filed by the father of late actor Sushant, Krishna Kishore Singh. He claimed the film was shot without the family’s consent and launched in an orchestrated manner by confidants of people accused of a role in the actor’s death.

The petition was dismissed by the judiciary headed by Judge Sanjeev Narula who also called on film producers to keep accounts.

In April, Krishna Singh filed a petition to prevent anyone from using his son’s name or image on the big screen. At the time, the HC had asked the producers of various films – proposed and being filmed and in the process of being filmed – to respond to the petition filed by Singh.

Sushant’s death came as a shock to the entire film industry, her fans, and her family. The case is currently under investigation by three national agencies, including the CBI, ED and NCB. After his death, several filmmakers announced films about his life.

In the plea, Rajput’s father mentioned the names of some of the films which include- Nyay: Justice, suicide or murder: a star has been lost, Shashank, and an unnamed crowd-funded film. Depending on the costume, Nyay is slated for release in June while the filming of Suicide or murder: a star is lost and shank has begun.

“The defendants (the filmmakers), taking advantage of this situation, tried to seize this opportunity for ulterior motives,” said the plea. Singh also sought damages of more than 2 crore rupees from the filmmakers for “loss of reputation, mental trauma and harassment” against Rajput’s family.

The plea also asserted that if a “film, web series, book or other content of a similar nature is allowed to be published or broadcast, it would affect the right of the victim and the deceased to a free and fair trial as it does could cause them harm “.
