Based on a lawsuit filed by Zee, the Delhi High Court ordered WhatsApp users to stop circulating Salman Khan’s latest film, Radhe. It comes after the distributor alleged that the film was the victim of widespread piracy via social media platforms.

The High Court ordered WhatsApp to suspend services to numbers used to sell pirated copies of the film.

The court also ordered the country’s major telecommunications operators – Airtel, Jio and Vodafone – to release details of the subscribers of those who hack Radhe, with Zee filing new lawsuits against them.

The Delhi High Court order states: ‘The plaintiff brought legal action for permanent injunction, restitution of accounts and damages for violation of the plaintiff’s exclusive license and exploitation rights in the cinematographic film’ Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai ‘(in short’ the film ‘). As stated in the complaint, the applicant is the exclusive licensee and the holder of various exploitation rights, including theater rights, satellite rights, on-demand rights, etc. in and on the film, including, among other things, the exclusive distribution / exhibition right. / broadcast the film and / or make the film accessible to the public via theatrical, internet, digital and online streaming platforms / OTT platforms, Transactional Video On Demand (TVOD), etc. “

Speaking of piracy, he further says, “The film was released on May 13, 2021 on plaintiff’s digital entertainment streaming service Zee 5 for pay-per-view public viewing. The applicant received information that the film was the victim of widespread piracy via social media platforms, including the “ WhatsApp ” messaging service. The applicant has become aware that several counterfeit / illegal copies of the film as well as various video clips thereof have been made / created / stored and are illegally copied, stored, reproduced, transmitted, broadcast, shared, sold and / or released. provision for illegal and unauthorized viewing, downloading and storage for the general public by individuals on multiple social media platforms, including “WhatsApp”. “
