After a surprise opening day with collections of Rs 3.06 crore, the Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor starring horror comedy, Roohi, showed a marginal decline at the box office with collections in the range of Rs. 1.90 to 2.10 crore. The film took place decently in the centers of mass, where the drop in collections occurred in the morning shows, but started to gain momentum around noon and in the evening. UP, Bihar and Delhi were almost neck and neck with opening day, which is a positive sign for Roohi.
The major drop occurred in subways where the impact of the working day was visible. While the film returned to Thursday-to-Friday night levels, the morning drop is due to multiple factors – the mixed reports, the business day factor, as well as the daily increase in Covid cases across the country. There is a chance that the film will exceed Rs 2.20 crore on the second day, but it all depends on how the late night shows play out in national channels. A drop from Thursday is expected even in the night shows due to the India vs England T20 match.
Like the first day, PVR, INOX and Cinepolis contributed over 50% to the film’s total showbiz, and the two-day total now sits around the Rs. 5 crore mark. While it is difficult to predict a trend for Saturday and Sunday due to poorer reports and Covid, it would be a good result if the film manages to hit the double-digit mark within four days.
