Critics Choice Real TV Awards Sets 2021 Calendar, June Eye Ceremony – Deadline

The Critics Choice Real TV Awards, which recognize the best non-fiction programming of the year and are presented by the Critics Choice Association and the non-fiction producer organization NPACT, announced on Monday that they will hold their 2021 ceremony on June 21 in a format to be determined.

The 2020 ceremony had to be called off due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Netflix led all networks and streamers with eight total wins led by its docuseries Applaud and basic reality Queer eye.

Submissions for this year’s Critics Choice Real TV Awards opened today (submit here), with nominations to be announced on June 2. Shows are eligible for nomination if at least six episodes premiered between June 1, 2020 and May 31, 2021 in at least 50% of the potential US television market.

The Critics Choice Association, which also oversees the Critics Choice Awards, will monitor all submissions and select nominees from competitive categories, with CCA members voting on the winners. NPACT will lead the selection of discretionary non-competitive prices.
