BTS defeats BLACKPINK, PSY, TWICE, EXO in ‘most popular’ survey
In the 2021 Overseas Hallyu (Korean Wave) survey, published by the South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, was conducted to determine which stars of the K -pop, the actors of K-drama, Korean films and Korean shows have left a mark outside the country and made audiences speak. And the list of the most popular Korean content and stars included BTS, Lee Min Ho, Hyun Bin, Song Hye Kyo, Crashing Landing On You and more.
More than 8,500 Korean consumers of cultural content from 18 countries, including the United States, China and Japan, participated in the online survey from September 24 to November 4, 2020. They were asked about the shows of television, movies and music, among other topics. .
When asked to name their favorite Korean singer, 22% voted to make BTS the most popular. The K-pop group has seen a 6.8% increase in popularity from 15.2% in points last year. BTS was followed by BLACKPINK in 2nd place with 13.5%, PSY in 3rd place with 2.9%, TWICE in 4th place with 2.4% and EXO in 5th place with 2.1%, as Soompi reports.
When asked to name their favorite Korean actor, 9.6% chose Lee Min Ho, star of The King: Eternal Monarch, at the top of their list. He was followed by Crash Landing On You star Hyun Bin in 2nd place with 3.5%, goblin actor Gong Yoo in 3rd with 2.3%, Descendants of the Sun actress Song Hye. Kyo in 4th with 2.1% and Lee Jong Suk in 5th place with 2%.
When asked to name their favorite Korean drama, 9.5% voted for Crash Landing on You star Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin, followed by Kim Soo Hyun’s hit show. and Seo Ye Ji in 2020 It’s Okay to Not Be Okay in 2nd with 4.1% and the world of the bride and groom and the Itaewon class in 3rd with 2.8%.
Among films, Parasite tops the list with 18.4% followed by Train to Busan in 2nd with 10.2%, Peninsula at 3rd with 3.5%, ALIVE at 4th with 2.1% and Time to Hunt at 5th with 1.6%.
