Pandemic does its job, but as mentioned in our Box Office review earlier, “entertainment will find its way.” Mumbai Saga did very well as it finally hit theaters on Friday.

The pandemic situation is getting worse by the day and a film like Mumbai Saga does not appeal to audiences very much outside of Mumbai and Pune. Still, he’s ready to challenge Day 1 number of last week’s outing, Roohi.

Early estimates suggest the gangster drama directed by John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi is set to have an opening day in the 3-3.5 crores range. The movie has a maximum number of steps for any post-movie locking in Hindi and the credit goes for its mass appeal.

While Mumbai Saga became a mass Hindi artist after a long time, it also got the biggest blockage after publication. Many small centers reopened for the film and he managed to get around 2,000 screens – 25% more than Roohi’s. Interestingly, the contribution of single screens and non-national multiplexes was also maximum for the film.

According to the information gathered, 55% of the collections of the direction of Sanjay Gupta come from mass centers, the national multiplexes contributed about 45%. Although all data mentioned here does not include night numbers which are yet to come.

Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar with Arjun Kapoor & Parineeti Chopra was also released today but got a very small version. The film has had limited broadcasts and that too mostly in top notch multiplexes.

Dibakar Banerjee director will stay well below the 1 crore mark on Day 1.
