Bravo Reality Franchise Set To Go For More Spinoffs – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Under the bridge, the hit reality TV franchise Bravo, is poised to take off with more spinoffs underway as the franchise continues to grow.

Deadline understands that NBCUniversal is in the early stages of developing two more spinoffs – one set in Australia and one in Iceland.

The Australian season is produced by Banijay-owned producer 51 Minds Entertainment, who is behind the original show and its two existing spinoffs, Below deck: Sailing yacht and Below deck: Mediterranean.

The original series chronicles the lives of crew members who work and live aboard a superyacht during the rental season.

Interestingly, the Icelandic series is being developed by Shed Media, owned by Warner Bros. It is not uncommon for different production companies to produce various spinoffs from a network’s successful franchise in the United States, as cable networks often hold the rights to the shows. It happened with Bravo’s The real housewives franchise as well as many series on VH1 such as Love and hip-hop.

The State of Unscripted TV: Networks and Streamers Optimistic in 2021 as They Seek Post-Pandemic Stability and Loud New Hits

Rod Aissa, EVP Unscripted, Documentary & Lifestyle, recently told Deadline that he considers Under the bridge a “perfect” reality TV series.

“You have people coming for a week, so there are always new characters coming in, in terms of guests,” he said. “You have a team getting to know each other and relationships evolve over the season. You have these wonderful backgrounds – you just want to be there, and you want to be on the ship, and you want it to be served by these great people running the ship. “

He added that in the future, Under the bridge shows could air on Bravo or other NBCU platforms such as Peacock. “I’m addicted to Under the bridge, “he said.” There isn’t enough that I can look at. I want to go to all of these places. “

Under the bridge launched in 2013 and has just aired its eighth season. Below deck: Mediterranean has five seasons and Below deck: Sailing yacht, who follows the crew on a 177-foot sailboat, recently produced its second season in Coratia during the pandemic.

51 Minds president Christian Sarabia recently told Deadline that the franchise is a “monster.”

“It’s just the ultimate reality show,” he said. “We always talk about producers who always want to create bubbles and put people in a situation. There is no better bubble than a ship that you can’t leave if you’re in the middle of a fight and the farthest you can run is the bow of the bow. It really is a Up down or the reality version of Downton abbey. “
