AMC Networks invests in Shaftesbury, producer of Murdoch Mysteries – Deadline

AMC Networks has entered into a strategic partnership with Murdoch Mysteries and Slasher producer Shaftesbury.

The cable company invested in the Canadian producer, giving it access to Shaftesbury slate and allowing it to expand its content and development capabilities north of the border.

Shaftesbury produces Mysteries of Murdoch, which is one of the biggest shows for Acorn TV, owned by AMC Networks, as well as a horror anthology Slasher, which was recently commissioned for a fourth season by Shudder.

Shaftesbury CEO and Chairman Christina Jennings, who founded the company in 1987, will continue to lead the company alongside Executive Vice President Scott Garvie.

Michael Levine, member of the board of directors of Jennings, Garvie and Shaftesbury, will remain on the board of directors of Shaftesbury and will be joined by two new directors of AMC Networks, Harold Gronenthal, senior vice president of programming and marketing for AMC Networks International, and Matt Graham, Managing Director of AMC Networks – owned the streaming service Acorn TV.

Shaftesbury and its shareholders have been advised on this strategic investment by RBC Capital Markets.

In addition, this partnership will give AMC Networks enhanced capabilities to expand our production in Canada.
