EXCLUSIVE: Amazon Studios has acquired The blind, a pitch for an original genre film written and directed by Alexis Jacknow. Shawn Levy & Dan Cohen of 21 Laps will be producing.
The storyline is being kept under wraps, but it’s a timely twist of the genre that draws inspiration and concept from in films such as Carrie, it follows and Final destination. Emily Morris will oversee 21 laps.
After a career spent directing live theater, Jacknow moved to the cinema with his first short film, Again, which premiered at Tribeca in 2017 and was distributed by Amazon. Most recently, she wrote and directed two short films for Hulu / 20th Digital’s Bite size horror, which aired on FX and Freeform. His episodes for Daily love for Netflix drew a 2019 WGA Award nomination for Short Form Original. Jacknow recently gained attention for his screenplay The villager, which she is currently preparing as a director’s first feature film.
21 Laps just released the fantasy series Shadow and bone, and his Oscar nominated film Love and monsters became a worldwide hit for Netflix.
Jacknow is replaced by Verve, Washington Square Films and Ziffren Brittenham; 21 laps is WME & Ziffren Brittenham.
