Gangubai Kathiawadi by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is getting more and more interesting. A few days ago, the creators left us spellbound with their teaser and garnered praise from all corners. While the video is still fresh in our minds, we did come across an update on the film – actress Alia Bhatt is set to sing a track for the drama of the upcoming period.

As Pinkvilla reports, a source close to Gangubai Kathiawadi’s production told them, “Alia is a very good singer, while Mr. Bhansali is a famous songwriter, so the duo decided to collaborate on a song in the film. The composition will take place in a more intense space and Mr. Bhansali and Alia are impatiently awaiting it.

Alia has previously lent her voice for tracks like Samjhawan Unplugged (Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania), Ikk Kudi – Club Mix (Udta Punjab), Tum Se Hi – Reprise (Sadak 2), Humsafar (Badrinath Ki Dulhania), among others. Sanjay Leele Bhansali of Gangubai Kathiawadi has provided the music for many songs including Nagada Sang Dhol (Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela), Deewani Mastaani (Bajirao Mastani), Udhal Ho (Malaal) and more.

Just yesterday, we told you that actor Ajay Devgn will join the Gangubai Kathiawadi team today to conclude his games. Speaking about his role, a source revealed that he plays a powerful and impactful character, and Gangubai’s journey could never be complete without him. According to a report, he was roped up to play the role of gangster Karim Lala in the movie SLB. A massive set depicting Ajay’s character’s house was created in the Filmcity studio in Mumbai.

Speaking of the collaboration between Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the duo worked together in the 1999 hit film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is inspired and adapted from Hussain Zaidi’s novel Mafia Queens of Mumbai. It highlights the life of Gangubai, aka The Lady of Kamathipura. For those who don’t know, she was pushed into prostitution at an early age and later became an influential pimp with several fierce gangsters in her clientele.
