India is now reporting the lowest number of COVID cases in the past 2.5 months. And the creators of Sooryavanshi finally see a silver lining to bring magic to the big screens. Currently, in some states, theaters are permitted to operate at 50% occupancy. The scene is expected to improve until July.
In Punjab, cinemas have been allowed to operate at 50% occupancy and soon we might see an announcement of around 100% occupancy. Also in Maharashtra, theaters are licensed according to the districts with the least positivity rate. In July, cinemas are expected to open at full capacity. In Telangana, the disinfection process has been launched in cinemas.
As theaters slowly get back on track, we’ve learned that the creators of Sooryavanshi and 83 have started to book a niche. The exhibitors are ready to give as much space as possible for both releases because they keep their promise to only arrive in theaters. Akshay Kumar’s crime drama is expected to make an appointment in October, most likely Gandhi Jayanti (October 2).
No doubt the release of Sooryavanshi on Gandhi Jayanti will help open one of the biggest openings in Bollywood. So the move seems pretty logical at the moment.
A source close to Mid Day quotes: “While the release of John (Abraham) Eid ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’ had to be postponed, ‘Attack’ will meet its release on August 13th. Exhibitors want to give Sooryavanshi and 83 their due for staying by their side until 2020. It’s possible the cop’s caper will arrive in October, followed by Ranveer Singh’s cricket drama in November.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, Akshay Kumar’s crime drama also stars Katrina Kaif, Jaaved Jaffery and others in key roles.
