The teaser for Alia Bhatt’s highly anticipated film Gangubai Kathiawadi was unveiled on February 24 to mark Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s birthday. The directors also announced that the film will hit theaters on July 30. Now the latest report reveals that Ajay Devgn has to track down SLB in the movie.
After the teaser went live, Alia’s performance in the teaser was widely appreciated. The film is based on one of the chapters of Hussain’s iconic novel Zaidi Mafia Queens Of Mumbai and Ajay Devgn will play an important role in the film.
Now the latest Pinkvilla report claims the 51-year-old actor is starting filming for his role in this SLB and Jayantilal Gada production. A massive set was also built to film Ajay’s scene for the film.
Speaking of Ajay’s role, a source told the publication, “This is going to be a key role for Ajay in the film, however, he is one of the most powerful and impactful characters in the film. Gangubai’s journey can never be complete without Ajay’s track, and the dynamic chemistry between Ajay and Alia can be seen in the film.
The source also said, “It’s a role that required the presence of a reliable actor, who also has the personality and aura of a superstar. And who better than Ajay for the same.
Conversely, Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Leela Bhansali had collaborated on the 1999 hit film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The two are collaborating after 21 years now. Apart from that, the Singham actor has also appeared in a period film set against the backdrop of Mumbai like Company and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn shot for his directorial debut in MayDay which stars Amitabh Bachchan in the lead. The film is said to be an edge of the siege drama in the context of the aviation industry. He will also be seen in the sports drama Maidaan, in which he plays the role of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Soon he will also be starting filming on Indra Kumar’s next film, Thank God.
