When the pandemic hit the country in early 2020, movie theaters were the first to close and were also the last to open after the lockdown. In February of this year, the central government allowed the theaters to operate at 100% capacity. With the announcement, several filmmakers began to announce theatrical release dates for their films. Only one week left for the first major Bollywood film – Roohi– to hit theaters after the 100% capacity rule, actor Varun Sharma took to Instagram to express his gratitude with an emotional note.
Varun Sharma plays a central role in Hardik Mehta’s horror comedy Roohi which also stars Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor.
Varun took to his Instagram feed on Thursday and shared a photo of himself falling asleep in a theater. Sharing the photo, he wrote a long heartfelt note. “For us, actors, cinemas and multiplexes are nothing less than a sanctuary. A year ago, when the ongoing pandemic hit us hard and theaters had to remain closed, the entire movie industry suffered massive losses. But more importantly, he We had an emotional impact on us. Today after a year I visited the theater and I feel so much gratitude in my heart. “
“I grew up in a middle class family in Jalandhar. I didn’t know anyone in showbiz. Despite all of this, I wanted to be an actor for the one time I was completely and truly happy was when I was in front of the big screen living the magical and absorbing the larger than life charm of Hindi movies. Soon the first day one broadcasts became a way of life and before I knew it I was won over by the world of cinema, ”he added.
“When my first film Fukrey released in 2013 and I took my family to the movies to watch it on the big screen, it was pretty overwhelming. When my mom saw me on the screen, she broke down. It was an emotional moment for the whole family. Back in Jalandhar, people were proud of me because they saw me on the big screen. As my next #Roohi movie is set to hit theaters on March 11, I’m thrilled beyond words. I am happy to share this special film with my audience who have been waiting to watch me for two years. Roohi is my first release after Chhichhore which released in 2019. Let’s regroup and relive the magic. But don’t forget to stay safe. Wear your masks and enjoy the roller coaster that Roohi represents, ”he concluded.
Roohi is set to hit theaters on March 11, 2021.
