Applause Entertainment, an Aditya Birla group company run by media veteran Sameer Nair, launched Scam 1992: The Story of Harshad Mehta last year which is currently streaming on SonyLIV. The series has witnessed immense love and fanfare unlike any other show to date. This left audiences completely entertained and speculated on what the next season might entail. All of that speculation is now put to rest as Applause Entertainment has officially announced that the second season of this popular franchise will feature the 2003 story Stamp Paper Scam by Abdul Karim Telgi.
Provisionally titled Scam 2003: The strange case of Abdul Karim Telgi, The show will be adapted from the Hindi-language book “Reporter ki Diary” written by journalist / reporter Sanjay Singh, who is credited with breaking the scam story at the time. The series promises to be an intriguing watch as it will capture the life of Abdul Karim Telgi, born in Khanapur, Karnataka, and his journey to become the mastermind behind one of India’s most ingenious scams that took place. is prevalent in several states which shook the whole country. It is estimated that the value of the scam was allegedly around Rs. 20,000 crore.
Applause followed the talented Kiran Yadnyopavit, known for his contribution to the Marathi film industry, to write and develop the story with author Sanjay Singh. The series will be directed by award-winning national director Hansal Mehta, who continues to collaborate with the franchise following the tremendous success of 1992 scam.
