Abhishek Banerjee on Ajeeb Daastaans: “The time we spent together on sets was a lot of fun despite an intense learning experience and a dark script”: Bollywood News

Abhishek Banerjee – the actor has stolen everyone’s hearts with his much-loved on-screen roles after his successful stint as a casting director. But with the upcoming Netflix anthology film Ajeeb Daastaans, he found himself totally out of depth and heat. Ironically (literally), Abhishek has never used iron in his life and his character as a launderer asked him to do so, calling on him to stand for hours and notice how the neighborhood ‘presswalas’ are doing. their work.

Featured in Raj Mehta’s Short Film Khilauna, along with Nushrrat Bharuccha and little firecracker actor Inayat Verma, he was excited to play this different character and learn how to iron clothes! Speaking about his experience on sets, Abhishek spoke about one of the more ironic things. He said: “My role was that of a press worker, but the funniest thing is I don’t know how to iron, even with a normal iron, let alone those big bulky irons. The first time Raj watched me try, he knew I wasn’t good at it. I had to learn it from scratch and realized it was something my dad and wife wanted me to learn my whole life, and it’s finally happening on the sets of Ajeeb Daastaans. The time we spent together on the sets was a lot of fun despite the intense learning experience and the dark storyline. It didn’t look like work at all and I’m happy that I can at least iron and fold my clothes.

The film is a story of games that people play to survive. It highlights the common manipulation in society and the impact that the environment has on young minds. Ajeeb Daastaans brings together four unusual stories that delve into the complex themes of fractured relationships and human emotions such as jealousy, law, prejudice and toxicity, and their effects.

Bringing together some of the country’s best talent, the film is produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, directed by a team of notable directors – Shashank Khaitan, Raj Mehta, Neeraj Ghaywan and Kayoze Irani – and is set to release on April 16, 2021, only on Netflix. The talented cast of the ensemble includes Fatima Sana Shaikh, Jaideep Ahlawat, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Abhishek Banerjee, Inayat Verma, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shefali Shah, Manav Kaul and Tota Roy Chowdhury.
