A major fire broke out at ND studios near Khalapur in Raigad district in Maharashtra on Friday. The studio is owned by senior art director Nitin Desai. There are reports that the fire broke out around noon and no casualties have been reported to date.

The fire broke out on the sets of Asutosh Gowariker’s film Jodhaa Akbar which starred Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Although the film was released in 2008, the setting has remained intact. According to officials, plywood, PoP and other things were eviscerated in the fire. Shortly after the fire was reported, firefighting vehicles from neighboring areas were deployed to extinguish the flames. Officials are trying to figure out what caused the fire.

The studio authorities had kept the film’s set intact even years after the film’s release and were the main attraction for visitors. ND Studio has been used to shoot several Bollywood films including Bajirao Mastani, kick, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and others. The Bigg Boss reality show was also filmed at ND studios.
