29 new deaths, 500 new positive cases – fidgetcube

The Los Angeles County Public Health Department released new data on Covid-19 on Saturday, reporting 29 new deaths and 500 new positive cases.

Although ministry data shows hospitalizations continue to decline, the number of reported cases and deaths may reflect delays in weekend reporting.

Public health data brings LA County to a total of 1,233,488 confirmed cases and 23,918 deaths. At the time of the report, 414 county residents are hospitalized with Covid-19, 21% of whom are in the intensive care unit.

The test results have now been made available to more than 6,502,000 people, 18% of whom have tested positive. The daily rate of test positivity is 0.6%, remaining at the lowest level seen throughout the pandemic.

11 of today’s new deaths were in people over the age of 80, with eight people aged 65 to 79 having succumbed to the virus. Five people who died were between 50 and 64 years old, and three had died between 30 and 49 years old. Two of the reported deaths were from the city of Pasadena.

Soon, LA County is expected to step into the yellow (or least restrictive) level of California’s plan for a safer economy. The move will increase capacity in many areas, including cinemas, concert halls and theme parks, as security changes like masking are maintained, as per CDC guidelines.

Covid-19 vaccines are available without an appointment for all people 16 years of age and older, who live or work in Los Angeles, while supplies last.

Currently, an ongoing public health priority is to provide vaccines to those who are homeless. So far, 7,103 cases of Covid-19 have been identified among this population, 206 of which have died. As with the general population, cases continue to decline. But in any case, there are currently 122 providers administering vaccines to the homeless across the city.
